Special Events

Stocks and Donor-Advised Funds

Stocks
Using securities that have gone up in value since you bought them is an excellent way to make a gift to New York Public Radio. In most cases you will be entitled to an income tax charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the securities on the date of the gift and will not have to report capital gain income. You may use securities to make your annual gift to NYPR or contribute to a specific area. Contact us directly at giving@nypublicradio.org or (646) 829.4130 to request instructions.

Donor Advised Funds
New York Public Radio, as a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, does accept gifts through Donor Advised Funds (DAFs). To make a gift through your DAF, first contact your financial/legal advisor or your DAF representative to recommend a grant to New York Public Radio. We hope you will choose to include your contact information with your gift so that we can thank you for your generosity. Your DAF administrator may require the following information:

Limitations to donating through a donor-advised fund:

  • Donors cannot use their DAF to pay off an already existing debt or obligation.
  • Money in DAFs have already received tax deductions, therefore a gift from a DAF cannot be used to pay for goods and services, such as event tickets or thank you gifts.
