I’m excited to share that Gabrielle Jones, a journalist with broad reporting, editing, and audience development experience, will be joining the local news team as the Director of Digital News and Audience.
In this role, Gabrielle will work with the newsroom, live radio shows, and across New York Public Radio to grow audiences on WNYC’s local news website Gothamist, the WNYC app, our newsletters and social media. She will also play a key role in helping us innovate how we tell stories and reach news consumers in the New York City region.
Gabrielle joins us from Louisville Public Media, where she is the Vice President of Content. In that role she oversees local news and music operations, LPM podcasts and the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting. Until the arrival of our very own Kenya Young, she served as LPM’s interim co-CEO.
Prior to her work at LPM, Gabrielle was the digital news editor and audience lead at KERA in Dallas, and she also held roles in the fundraising, digital and news departments at VPM Media, Virginia’s PBS and NPR affiliate. If there is a role to be done at a public radio station, chances are pretty good that Gabrielle has done it.
She’s a graduate of North Carolina Central University in Durham, N.C., and has a master’s degree from American University in Washington, D.C.
I couldn’t be more excited to welcome Gabrielle to New York. She’s clearly a rising star in our industry, and I am confident that her ability to work collaboratively across departments will be an asset to the organization.
Her first day is July 1, 2025.
