New York Public Radio Celebrates LGBTQ Pride Month
WNYC, WQXR and The Greene Space honor Pride
with special programming throughout the month of June
This June, New York Public Radio commemorates Pride Month with an array of programming on-air, online, and in-person that celebrates the creative contributions of LGBTQ artists and honors the ongoing struggle for queer rights and representation.

Wednesday, June 22 – Saturday, June 25, 7 PM
Artist-in-Residence at The Greene Space: STACEYANN CHIN

Spoken-word poet, performing artist and LGBTQ rights activist Staceyann Chin will present four evenings at The Greene Space. Chin, who was named a 2022 Artist-in-Residence, will use story, poetry, music, and other media to expand the concept of home and homecoming. Additional information and tickets can be found here.

WNYC: Witness History: Pride Month

WNYC will air an hour of special programming from the BBC’s Witness History program, featuring stories from people across the world, including the fight for transgender rights in Indonesia, lesbian separatists in Washington DC, and a man who was at the first gay pride march in Moscow.

On the evening of the NYC Pride parade, The United States of Anxiety host Kai Wright asks: What’s different about Pride this year? Last June, Imara Jones, award-winning creator of TransLash Media, joined USofA and foreshadowed then the attack on transgender rights in states across the country. Kai and Imara – who have spent almost every Pride together for decades – come together once again to take calls from listeners about their complicated feelings around Pride this year.

To end Pride Month on a joyful note, WQXR will host a special in-person event with Metropolitan Opera star Anthony Roth Costanzo at The Greene Space. The evening will feature performances by musicians from the LQBTQ+ community, including violist Jesus Rodolfo, members of ChamberQUEER, and life partners and composers Mark Adamo and John Corigliano.
