NEW YORK, NY — February 26, 2026 – New York’s classical music station WQXR (105.9 FM and wqxr.org) returns to Brooklyn Children’s Museum for the seventh annual Classical Kids Fair, on Sunday, March 15. This beloved, family-friendly event provides a fun introduction to classical music for children ages 4-10 through engaging live performances, workshops, arts and crafts, and other hands-on experiences.
This edition of the Classical Kids Fair will feature performances from the Spanish-English music duo Musiquita, Dancers of the Met Opera Ballet and a family-friendly abbreviated performance of Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf” from the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music Woodwind Quintet. The Brooklyn Conservatory will also host a family sing-along and instrument discovery stations, where kids can try different musical instruments. Teaching artists from the New York Philharmonic’s Very Young Composers Program will lead composition workshops, while members of the Met Opera Ballet will lead dance workshops. The Beam Center’s teaching artists will lead children in making their own tin can banjos.
The fair will take place from 11am-4 pm. Admission is included with the purchase of a ticket to the museum.
Several times per year, WQXR hosts Classical Kids Fairs throughout the five boroughs and New Jersey in partnership with other cultural and community organizations to bring the best of New York City’s robust classical music scene to as many people as possible and inspire the next generation of music lovers.
