Michael Sol Warren Joins WNYC/Gothamist as New Jersey Reporter

We’re thrilled to announce that Michael Sol Warren is joining the Day-of Desk as a dedicated New Jersey reporter.
Michael has covered New Jersey since 2017, most recently as a producer for NJ Spotlight News, and previously as a reporter for NJ Advance Media where he worked under the tutelage of the great Karen Yi.
His primary focus has been coverage of environmental issues. He reported and produced the “Hazard NJ” podcast as well as a series of short documentaries about the intersection of climate change and agriculture in the Garden State – a collaboration with New York Public Radio. He also put together a multimedia feature on the life of an African elephant born in the wild who now lives at Six Flags Great Adventure.
Michael previously covered, among other stories, rampant illegal dumping in rural Sussex County, Newark’s drinking water crisis, city politics in Trenton, the plight of vulnerable nursing home residents in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, sexual abuse allegations at a reptile education center and the downfall of a New Jersey man who became a mass murderer in New Mexico.
Michael is a graduate of the University of New Mexico and Boston University. He lives in Central Jersey. His first day is February 17.
