Radiolab’s Family-Friendly Podcast “TERRESTRIALS” Expands to an Ongoing, Twice-Monthly Podcast Release Schedule

New schedule kicks off TODAY with an episode on the environmental superpowers of beavers and their ability to mend our planet

(September 18, 2025 – New York, NY) Beginning today, WNYC’s Terrestrials shifts to an ongoing, twice-monthly release schedule, bringing new family-friendly science stories to listeners on a consistent schedule moving forward. New episodes of the podcast will be released on the Radiolab for Kids feed every other Thursday.

Hosted by Radiolab’s Lulu Miller, Terrestrials tells true stories about extraordinary creatures right here on Earth through a blend of original music, humor, science, and wonder. The new schedule debuts with an episode featuring stories of beavers that have had an outsized, positive impact on the ecosystems around them, the first of a slate of new episodes revealing how humanity can look to nature for models of how to live harmoniously and mend our planet.

“Over the last three seasons of Terrestrials, we’ve been so moved by the response from families and educators – especially the requests for a more consistent, ongoing presence of the shows,” said Emily Botein, Vice President, WNYC Studios. “As the environment for fact-based, educational kids’ media continues to shift with the elimination of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and ‘brainrot’ continues to proliferate, WNYC is committed to providing parents and kids more regular access to enlightening screen-free content.”

“I have been privately obsessed with the concept of biomimicry– looking to nature to solve problems,” said Lulu Miller, Host and Creator of Terrestrials. “This fall, we are showcasing some of nature’s finest models–from beavers that engineer entire ecosystems back to health and olive trees that share scarce water with their neighbors, to baby flies with medical healing powers. The Terrestrials feed will be full of the joy and musical magic (thanks to ‘songbud’ Alan Goffinski) our audience has come to expect, with a little extra ingredient for these dizzying times – hope.”

This biweekly release cadence is part of a broader expansion to deepen the show’s connection with its audience and continue to meet the need for educational programming that engages the imagination. Following the success of Terrestrials’ live podcast tapings this summer at Little Island (NYC), this effort will also include an expanded number of live, in-person events, with details to be announced at a later date.

Terrestrials is available for streaming wherever you get your podcasts.

Support for Terrestrials is provided by the Simons Foundation, the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, and the John Templeton Foundation.
