WNYC Studios Greenlights Second Season of “Come Through,” Announces Promotion for Rebecca Carroll

Colleagues,

I’m thrilled to announce that Come Through with Rebecca Carroll has been greenlit for a new season. The show, which brought listeners “15 essential conversations about race in this pivotal moment in America” this past Spring and Summer, will relaunch this fall.

I’m also thrilled to announce that in light of the show’s new season, Rebecca has been promoted to Host and Managing Editor, Come Through. She’ll officially move from the newsroom to WNYC Studios, reporting to Studios Senior Editor Jenny Lawton. They’ve already begun work on the show’s next season. 

For nearly five years, Rebecca has worked as a Culture Critic and Editor of Special Projects in the Newsroom. Her impressive work has spanned across many of our platforms, including hosting multiple live event series in The Greene Space (How I Got Over, Black Icons) writing for Gothamist, and hosting REBEL, a weekly on-air conversation series about race and culture that was featured on WNYC’s local Morning Edition. 

Rebecca’s new role will allow her to devote her full time and attention to Come Through. The first season launched in the early days of the pandemic and gave voice to so many of the issues that came to the forefront two months later in the uprising following George Floyd’s death, and have remained there since. As the New York Times declared, “This podcast promises ‘essential conversations’ about race in America, and it absolutely delivers.”

As our country continues to reckon with racism and inequality, and the 2020 election rapidly approaches, we know that there are many more conversations to be had — and we are so pleased that Rebecca will continue convening them as a host for WNYC Studios.
