WNYC Studios Podcasts Named to Multiple “Best of 2019” Lists
(January 8, 2020) — Fifteen podcasts from WNYC Studios were named to year-end “Best of 2019” lists, as chosen by a number of critics and publications.
Dolly Parton’s America — Jad Abumrad’s critically acclaimed exploration of the legendary singer’s unique appeal to Americans across political divides — appeared on 23 lists and was named #1 (“the most joyful listening experience of the year”) by The New Yorker. Scattered, Chris Garcia’s touching audio memoir and investigation into what happened to his late father during his years in post-revolutionary Cuba before emigrating to the U.S., was named by seven publications, including Time, which described it as a “deeply personal account that’s essential at a moment when immigration is so politicized.” Other podcasts that made the lists include Trump, Inc., Nancy, Snap Judgment, The Stakes, and two co-productions with WQXR, The Open Ears Project and Aria Code.
